We aimed to identify the factors that affecting prognosis and mortality in the geriatric head trauma patients. In this study, between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2014 for a 3 year period in Diyarbakır Dicle University Hospital which have been admitted to the emergency department due to head trauma patients 65 years and older 1060 patients were examined.Patient data were recorded in the standard prepared form.This forms includes, name and surname , protocol number , gender, date of application, age , cause of trauma, Glasgow Coma Scale value, revised trauma score value,chronic disease presence, chronic drug use, the seasons of trauma, hematocrit and platelet values, reference tension, cranial physical examination findings, localization of fractures in the bones of the skull, cranial pathology, additional organ injuries, hospitalized, clinics where patients hospitalized and death situation. 55 patients died. 1005 patients have survived.To be in male gender have found to be a risk factor for mortality in all geriatric patient groups. According to computed tomography images intracranial hemorrhage , contusion, SAH , epidural hematoma , subdural hematoma and having the intracranial edema increases mortality . We have seen a significant survival on admission to having normotension value. Most of the hospitalized patients were followed for lower extremity trauma. Most of our patients were with mild head trauma. Key Words :geriatric head trauma, mortality, emergency room.
