5 Year Retrospective Analysis of Methyl Alcohol Poisoning Admitted to the Emergency Department Objective: Within the scope of our study, we aimed to analyze the cases of methanol poisoning who applied to our clinic in the last 5 years. Material and Method: Using our hospital information system and archive files, we recorded the patient's history, vital signs, clinical features and laboratory findings of the cases who applied to our clinic in the last 5 years. Results: Within the scope of the study, the information of 72 cases were evaluated. The vast majority of cases affected by methyl alcohol intoxication are male. Average age has been determined around 51 years. Thirteen of the cases were using psychotropic drugs. 4 cases had hypertension and 4 cases had diabetes mellitus diagnosis. There was no significant relationship between the background information of the case and its prognosis. The mortality rates of patients who applied directly to our clinic were found to be significantly lower than those referred from an external hospital. It was observed that the cases who died were more hypotensive and had lower saturation. Hemodialysis is the most commonly used treatment method other than fluid replacement therapy; It was observed that the mortality rate was lower in cases who received hemodialysis and folic acid treatment. The presence of ocular findings was detected in 48 cases, and no significant relationship was found between the presence of ocular findings and laboratory findings. Conclusion: Rapid diagnosis and treatment is very important in methanol poisoning cases. The vital signs, laboratory findings and treatment methods of the case seem particularly important in terms of prognosis. Key Words: Alcohol, Emergency Department, Intoxication, Methanol, Toxic
