ABSTRACT Koca Ş, Presented to Emergency Servıces Clınıcal Oncology Patıentsand Demographıc Features, Bulent Ecevit University School of Medicine, Emergency Medicine Thesis. Zonguldak, 2014. Aim: Deaths due to cancer are the second ranks after heart disease. Along with an increase in the elderly population and the number of cancer cases in the light of new information, increasing the possibilities for early diagnosis, treatment follow-up period was extended with the change. In addition, the increase in information about the malignancy of patients, both diseases, as well as treatment-related complications as a result of increased admissions to the emergency department. In our study, we aimed to improve the quality of care for this group of patients in the emergency department who constitute significant portion of emergency room admissions of oncology patients by defining the clinical and demographic characteristics Patients and Method: Bülent Ecevit University, Faculty of Medical Hospital Emergency Department 01.10.2012 - 01.10.2013 between the applicant has been diagnosed or newly diagnosedcancer patients, 16 years later, non-trauma were analyzed retrospectively. The patients clinical and demographic characteristics were evaluated. In our study, age, gender, frequency of application, application time, cancer diagnosis, metastasis, comorbid diseases, the examination and imaging, interventions and treatments are evaluated for outcome. Fındıngs:İn the study 351 of 593 patients enrolled (59.2%) were male and 242 (40.8%) were female. The average age was found to be 62.07 ± .14,007. A total of 1,472 hospital admissions of patients in the study group of 262 patients in one time and that the remaining 371 patients were identified as having the repetitive application.The most common complaint dyspnea and 210 (%14.26) was present in the application. As the most common seen cancer in the Emergency Department is 117 (%19, 73) patients with lung cancer, the most common seen system of cancer was the gastrointestinal tract system with 186 (%31,3) patients. Metastases were present in 133 (%22,4) of the patients. In our study, where the most common seen parts of metastases was the lung in 45 (%24,2) patients. The most common seen comorbid disease was the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in %28.8 of patients. %33,8 of the patients were hospitalized. The most common admission diagnosis of impaired general condition (%27,7) were identified as. Result: Oncologic patients constitute an important part of who patients admitted to the emergency department. Physicians working in the emergency room experience and expertise to have sufficient knowledge in oncologic emergencies life-threatening emergencies in; in terms of mortality and morbidity in these patients will make a positive contribution. Thus, the expected from emergency department is cancer patients can gain more advantage from emergency department. Keywords: Cancer, Demographic features, Emergency service
