Abstract (EN)
Health is one of the most natural and indispensable rights of human beings. Patients' rights, an important part of human rights, are designed to protect these natural rights. Patients' rights are rights which must be defined and protected not only by individual patients, but also by all healthy individuals and especially by those who provide health care. Even though patients' rights have been important since patients have existed, the concept of a multidisciplinary approach of human health (health, law etc.) has just begun in recent years. The first three sections of this research focus on terms such as health, healthcare, emergency health services, emergency service and patients' rights within the framework of a multidisciplinary approach. The last chapter addresses the level of patients' understanding of their rights, the level of their knowledge concerning practices of emergency care (from December 1st to 31st of 2015) at the Mersin City Public Hospitals (Mersin State Hospital, Toros State Hospital, Tarsus State Hospital, and Tarsus State Hospital). In this descriptive study, 190 patients were administered a questionnaire consisting of 46 questions. The questionnaire was completed by patients in consultation with individual researchers. The data obtained is resolved in SPSS 15.0 statistical program findings, the percentage distribution was evaluated by cross tables and chisquare tests. The most important conclusion of the study is that patients lack sufficient information about their rights, need to be more informed about those rights and unafraid to demand them. The study offers specific proposals for patients to advocate for their rights more effectively.
