Abstract (EN)
The ecological consequences of mining operations must be investigated and the impact should be reduced to a minimum. In this context, to carry out those ecological restorations on degraded areas after been executed by mining companies is important. Also to keep sustainibility of those reconstructed sustainable ecological structures is important. Restoration of ravaged soil structure, the hydrological and vegetation structure in these degraded areas is very difficult and requires a long time. But the morphological structures which created with the repair work, should prevent erosion and support hydrological recovery. The recultivation studies carried out with pioneer plant species resistant to stress conditions occurring within these structures will form sustainable structures that will speed up the repair process and soil formation on bare rock surfaces. In this research, pioneering plant species that are compatible with different soil conditions have been investigated for ecological restoration of open mine sites. Six different abandoned or open pit mining operations on 3 different rocks in İzmir, Aydın and Muğla provinces were selected as the study area. Pioneering plant species that coming to the study areas by natural ways and survived under these stress conditions in the fields were identified. Use of this pioneering plant that supports the sustainability criteria in ecological restoration research according to differences rock types have been proposed.
