Evaluation of open and green areas in Seydişehir district of Konya province example

In this study, assessments were made in light of the qualification status, quality, natural character of vegetation and potential of use of open green areas in Seydişehir district. The inventory of active and passive green areas within the boundaries of Seydişehir Municipality were formed. Open green areas' spatial size, per capita amounts, their distribution to the neighborhoods and the species used were measured and evaluated. In addition, a survey was conducted to determine the Seydişehir citizen's opinions and needs about open and green areas. A survey was applied to 407 people in order to evaluate the urban open green area awareness of the citizens living in the study area. In the evaluation of the questionnaire, IBM Statistics SPSS 22 program was used to explain the expectations and satisfaction levels of the citizens about the open and green areas of Seydişehir. Frequency and percentage analyzes, independent sample T test, one way ANOVA analysis and factor analysis were applied. As a result; it was determined that the quality and quantity of green spaces in the study area were insufficient, but the local people who participated in the survey were not aware of this deficiency. There were no open and green area usage habits of the citizens' who live in the study area. Within the scope of this thesis, suggestions were made to improve urban open and green spaces and to increase urban green space usage culture.
