Increased prolidase enzyme activity and the oxidative stress affect the remodeling of ECM in unexplained infertility

Özet (EN)

The objective of our study was to compare the levels of serum prolidase activity and oxidative stress markers including total oxidative status (TOS), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), and vitamin E levels between unexplained infertility and healthy fertile women. Serum samples were obtained from 74 healthy women and in 90 unexplained infertile women. We have measured serum prolidase activity, Vitamin E levels TAC, TOS, and OSI levels spectrophotometrically. Serum prolidase activity and serum TAC levels were significantly higher in unexplained infertile women than in healthy women (p=0.013, p=0.001 respectively). Prolidase activity was positively correlated with TOS and vitamin E levels (r=0,265, p=0,049; r=0,892, p=0,001, respectively) Our study has shown that serum prolidase activity and oxidative stress are significantly associated with unexplained infertility, and the correlation between serum prolidase activity and the markers of oxidative stress was reflected in increased serum TOS and vitamin E levels.
