Abstract (EN)
In this study, the water quality of Acısu Stream, which is one of the surface water resources of Antalya province, was examined and modeled using the Water Quality Analysis and Simulation Program (WASP), and a study on the water quality management of the stream was aimed. 12 monitoring stations were determined on Acısu Stream and on-site measurements were carried out monthly for 1 year at these monitoring points. Besides, lab analyses were conducted for the collected samples. The monitoring program was carried out with physicochemical (dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, conductivity, nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, phosphorus, etc.), bacteriological (total coliform, fecal coliform, fecal streptococcus, and Escherichia coli) parameters, and pesticides. First of all, the calibration and verification of the water quality model were done. The results obtained from the study were assessed and a number of scenarios was investigated and compared with the current situation. Within the scope of the scenarios, 25% increase and decrease of point pollution loads and 25% increase and decrease of diffused loads were examined. When the pollution loads were compared, it was determined that the parameters that most affected Acısu Creek were total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), and bacteriological parameters. When nitrogen and phosphorus forms and bacteriological pollution are taken into account, it has been observed that the sources of pollution are livestock activities in the region, wastewater discharges from treatment plants, urban areas, and cesspools. In the thesis study, the water quality and quantity of Acısu Stream were dynamically modeled using a deterministic model. Different pollution increase and decrease scenarios were developed, the fate of Acısu Stream against these possible scenarios was examined, and solutions were presented in order to improve the water quality of Acısu Stream.
