The style of tafsir and its approaches in the context of the Tafsiru Suratal-Waqiya of the Adalı Hoca Muhammad Hilmi

This study is about Adalı Hoca Efendi, one of the most important Ottoman scholars of the recent period, about whom there is an extremely small amount of scientific research about himself and his works, and his approach to exegesis. Adalı Hoca is known for his important works in the field of fiqh, Arabic language and eloquence, as well as Exegesis. His work called Tefsîru Sûreti'l-Vâkıa, which he wrote in the field of Tafsir, has an original place among the works that deal with suras in our tafsir tradition. While most of the detached surah interpretations generally followed a style that was mainly based on narration, Adalı managed to exhibit the style of perseverance in the interpretation of Surah Vâkıa in a strong way. In this regard, tafsir is full of original interpretations and approaches. In addition to making use of famous and reliable works in Adalı exegesis, he has also benefited from a large number of writing works. In the study, the life, scientific endeavors and works of Adalı Hoca were discussed in detail, and the tafsir style was examined in different aspects. The narrations and sources on which it is based in exegesis have been identified and original approaches and opinions have been tried to be analyzed. As a result of the study, both the tafsir views and works of Adalı Hoca, as well as the copyrights in the field of fiqh and Arabic language eloquence, were published in the 19th century. It has been seen that he had an important place in the Ottoman scientific tradition as a scholar who was exclusive to his kind of person.
