Abstract (EN)

History of baked clay (terra cotta) objects in Anatolia goes backthousands of years before. Anatolia was the pioneer of the history ofcivilization in the Neolithic period of 8000 - 5.500 B.C.Baked clay statues have evolved together with the humancivilization from the beginning of the ceramic ages to the present day.The change in human belief required that multiple production of somecertain god, goddess and sacred animal statues from baked clay. Thatis when the early artists began to make moulds in order to reproducetheir works.The baked clay statuettes in my work have reached theirhighest artistry in the Hellenistic (330-30 B.C.) and the Roman (30B.C-330 A.D.) periods.While the technique of pressing clay into moulds goes back atleast two thousands year before, it is believed that silting has notbegun until three hundred years before the present day. The principalaim of this work is to examine some certain statuettes in the AdanaviiArchaeology Museum and make comparisons between the existinginformation on the ancient statue making techniques and shed somenew light on ancient statue making techniques.
