Determination of insect species in wheat agro-ecosystem in Adana province of Turkey

Abstract (EN)

Wheat Pests and their natural enemies were determined by using five different sampling methods in Adana province (Ceyhan. İmamoğlu, Karaisalı, Karataş ve Kozan)According to the results totally 10 Orders 65 families 95 genus and 109 species belonging to Odonata, Orthoptera, Hemiptera, Homoptera, Thysanoptera, Neuroptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, Lepidoptera and Hymenoptera orders were recorded.This study has been showed that including the most important pests that cause damage on wheat are Sunn Pests Eurygaster maura (Linnaeus), E. integriceps Put., Aphids Rhopalosiphum padi L., Sitobion avenae (F.), Schizaphis graminium (Rond.), Cereal Leaf Beetle Oulema melanopus L., Wheat Sawflies Cephus pygmaus L., Tracheolus tabidus F., Scarab beetles Anisoplia sp., Carabid Beetle Zabrus tenebriodes Goeze, Cereal Leaf Miner Syringopais temperetella Led., True Weeviles Curculionidae,Apionidae Leafhoppers Cicadellidae and Flea Beetles Phylotreta sp and Chatocnema sp., all these pests found as a main pests and their population kept under control by natural enemies. If we use and know all these natural enemies very well, there won?t be any needs to chemical controls.Key Words: Wheat, Pests, Adana, Natural Enemies
