Özet (EN)

This study intends to describe the family planning practices and intentions of 300 women applaying for abortion to a hospital in Adana. The findings show that 224 (%74.7) of the women had not been using effective family planning methods before abortion, 22 (%7.3) not making use of any methods and 202 (%67.3) benefiting from coitus interruptus (C.I.) of the total 300 women 19 (%6.3) had IUD and 37 (%6.7) had been taking oral contraceptives. în general, the women declared intentions to use effectiv methods after abortion. Of the 224 (%74.7) women who had been previouslyusing traditional methods; 145 (%64.7) declared preferences of IUD. Of the 202 women (%67.3) benefiting from CÎ 134 (%66.3) planned to use IUD and 20 (%9.9) to use oral contraceptives, 27 (%13.3) women planned to have Lubal Ligation. There were 22 (%7.3) women who had not used any method before the pregnency; two of these women (%9.1) did not want to use any methods after abortion and 3 (%13.6) intended to benefit from CI.
