The views of Turkish teachers in Adana province center on "Drama techniques"

The purpose of this study is to determine the views of Turkish language teachers about drama techniques and to reveal the level of knowledge and use of the techniques in drama. Research is an example of a mixed method in which qualitative and quantitative research methods are used together. The sample of this research one hundred and sixty-six Turkish language teachers working in secondary schools in Çukurova, Seyhan and Yüreğir districts of Adana during the 2017-2018 academic year. In the study; the questionnaire form created by the researcher was used. Percentage and frequency analysis were used for the quantitative data and content analysis was used for the qualitative data. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the teachers had a good knowledge of narrative, improvisation, pantomime and mind animation techniques; It was concluded that they did not know much about techniques such as hot seating, process drama and dull images. It was concluded that most of the teachers used drama techniques other than narrative technique or did not use it at all. The teachers stated that both themselves and the students lacked much information about drama when using drama techniques. In addition, the reasons for not being able to use these techniques are that the classes are very crowded and the inadequacy of the space in the class. As a result of the answers of Turkish language teachers to open-ended questions about the positive aspects of drama methods, drama techniques instill confidence in students, gain students the abilities of expressing themselves give them, develop students' creativity and imagination and help to understand the class easily. According to the opinions of the Teachers, it was indicated that to give pratical training to enhance drama tecniques, to increase the number of Turkish classes to have a drama lesson externally and to improve physical structure of the schools.
