Abstract (EN)

Purpose: The aim is in a sample of 35-64 year old women population that represent province of Adana Havutlu, to establish the effects of menapause on sexual functions, prevalence of sexual function disorder in premenopausal and postmenopausal period of women, to investigate the relation between sexual function disorder and some socioeconomic, cultural, and demographic variables, to form recomendations for the menopause and sexual function disorder issue according to the results obtained.Material and Method: This study is a cross-sectional research which planned to determine the sexual function disorder incidence, the effect of menopause and the other factors affecting in 35-64 year old women at Havutlu Town. Study was performed face to face interviews by the researcher with a systematical method chosing among over age of 47 of 181, under age of 47 of 179 women which were Havutlu Family Health Center registered. During the interviews questionnaire including questions about socio-demographic, socio-economic, marital, sexual life, women's sexual function scale, Beck Depression Inventory and menopause symptom scale was applied.Results: In our study the sexual function disorder was found in 69,9% of postmenopause group and 33,7% of premenopause group. Menopause found to be a risk factor for sexual function disorder. Women who had depression signs showed significantly higher incidence of sexual function disorder incidence than who had not.In our research women?s and spouse?s age, women?s and spouse's education level, women?s and spouse?s profession, absence of partner, arranged marriage, consanguinity durateon of marriage, women's view of sexuality in marriage, emotion to spouse, to influenced situation at home, received the first information source about sexuality, number of births, number of pregnancies, number of children, type of delivery, miscarriage, women and spouse?s health problems, women?s use of birth control method, the number of sexual intercourse per month, menopause status and depression were determined to be factors that impact on sexual function disorder. In our study, income level, family type, habits such as drinking tea, coffee, smoking, asumption alcohol, duration of menopause, age at first intercourse, age at first and last pregnancy found to be ineffective on sexual function.Conclusion: According to the results of this study being menopause, being prone to depression or depression, to be advanced age, spouse?s advanced age, partner loss and lack of partner, gave birth to 4 and above, low educational level, consanguineous marriages, arranged marriage impacted sexual functions negatively.
