Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the current structural situation, characteristics and problems of commercial plastic greenhouses found in Adana region and assess their compliance with the TSE standards. Since they form the 97% of the study area, we have selected Seyhan, Yüreğir, Ceyhan, Yumurtalık, and Karataş provinces. The companies were selected using purposeful sampling and a questionnaire was conducted regarding the greenhouse size, types and their cover materials. The current structures of the greenhouses and their construction types were analyzed through measurement done at the greenhouses, observations, photographs, and sketches. While 1,6% of the greenhouses studied were covered with glass, 98,4% of them were covered with plastic. 9,7% of the greenhouses were detached while 90,3% of them were attached. 62,9% of the greenhouses have not been built based on a project. 51,6% of the producers have the foremen in the vicinity build their greenhouses. In 74,2% of the greenhouses the main building material was steel. In order to render the glass and plastic covered greenhouses to comply with the TSE standards we have tried to help the producers with the sample projects drawn using Autocad. Key Words: Greenhouse, Cover material, Construction
