Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the technical efficiency levels of the trout farms operating in Adana were calculated; in addition, their economic, technical and structural situations were revealed. In addition, the factors affecting the production decisions of trout producers were determined. In this context, required data were obtained by face-to-face survey method in 10 active trout farms in the region. By applying the Data Envelopment Analysis to the obtained data, the average and individual efficiency coefficients of these trout farms were calculated. According to the results obtained, the average efficiency coefficients of the trout farms are found as 0.732, signifies that farms can obtain the same output by reducing the inputs as 26.8%. In addition, 50% of the farms are working with full efficiency level. In the evaluations made in terms of excess input use, it was calculated that the highest excess use of inputs was in labour costs (33%), chemical use (29.1%) and feed usage (23%). With the descriptive statistics applied to the survey data, the basic characteristics of trout producers and the level of factors affecting trout production were determined. The results of the research will make significant contributions to the fishing industry, trout producers, policy makers and researchers.
