Abstract (EN)
In this study, the treatment of polluter parameters in the leakage water sampled from Adana Sofulu Wild Waste Dumping Site was conducted by the phytoremediation with using Typha latifolia. Basaltic tuff was used as a grooving media in the system. The hydraulic retention times of system were 5, 10, and 15 days as being continuously twice. Leakage water was given to wetland plant as irrigation water and the water need of the plant was provided by this leakage water. It was aimed that the negative effects of leakage water from Adana Sofulu Wild Waste Dumping Site to the environment were minimized and treated by plant in the system. Removal efficiency of the average BOD5, COD, SS, TKN, and TP concentrations was studied according to hydraulic retention times and the ratios were found as 68.49%, 64.54%, 82.58%, 93.79%, and 61.99% respectively. The plant, whose heavy metal amount in their structure had been known in the beginning, was uprooted at the end of this study. And then, heavy metal accumulation in the roots and leaves/stem of plant were calculated in terms of mg/kg dry weight. Also, heavy metal concentrations between at the beginning and end of the study in basaltic tuff which was the media of plant were calculated. At the end of the study, Typha latifolia provided the metal removal for Cr, Cu, Pb, Fe, Ni, and Mn in the leakage water as the ratio of 10.50%, 94.00%, 86,45%, 61,85%, 68.91%, and 72.20% respectively. This pilot study can be a good example for the removal of polluters of leakage water sourced from all kind of waste dumping sites in our country conditions.
