These structures are made for different purposes. These objectives are generally; to keep the ground in a more upright position in terms of the natural slope, to prevent slide on the possibility of slip, to keep slopes formed in deep excavations and to protect coasts from erosion and floods. In addition to the earth pressures coming from the ground, the retaining structures must also meet the dynamic forces during the earthquake. Various magnitudes of earthquakes occur in our country which is located in the active earthquake zone. In static earth pressure, the effects of dynamic earth pressures on the retaining structures to be constructed in these regions are of great importance. Earthquake safety is an important parameter in the design of the retaining structures. There are significant changes for earthquake acceleration affecting the structure in the new Turkey Earthquake Zone Map. The variable acceleration values changed by Turkish Building Earthquake Code (2018) have increased the dynamic. Due to the increased dynamic loads, the safety of current retaining structures against toppling and sliding is questioned. In this study; the changes formed by the innovations coming with Turkish Building Earthquake Code (2018) in the design of retaining structures lateral earth pressure and security context, the regulation on building in seismic zones (DBYBHY) (2007) were analyzed, comparatively. In the retaining walls to be constructed at selected heights, the ground angle of the backfill was analyzed by changing the ground parameters such as the tilt angle (β) and the design slip resistance angle of the floor (φ). As a result of these analyses, the changes in lateral earth pressures were compared and their effects on safety were investigated.
