Roles of primary education supervisors in training candiate teachers on job

The purpose of this research is to determine the roles of primary educationsupervisors in training of candiate teachers on the job by assessing the opinions ofteachers and primary education supervisors.The population of the study covered the candiate teachers (totaly 297teachers) in primary education schools located in Bolu and Düzce and primaryeducation supervisors (35 supervisors) working in Bolu And Düzce Directorates ofNational Education as guides and supervisors. Sub-population of the researchcovered 221 teachers determined by Simple Random Sampling Method.The research was a quantitative, survey study. In the research thequestionnaire developed by Akbas was used.In the firs part of the questionnaire,there were personal information, in the second part, there were 48 items related to thesupervisiory and on the job training activities.Totaly, 178 questionnaies (152 from teachers, 26 from supervisors) weretaken into account and analyzed by SPSS 10.0 programme and statistical proceduressuch as, frequency, percent, arithmetical mean and standart deviation were made. Inthe analyses of the data, t test, one-way variance analysis, PART Hoc Tukey HSDTest .05 significance score was accepted as important in determining the differences.As a result of the research, the following findings were achieved:- There were no significant differences between the ideas of teachers relatedto the roles of primary education supervisors by sex, level of education, branch, inservice training.- The supervisors thought that they were more efficient in on the job-trainingof the candidate teachers than the teachers.- Teachers thought that the primary education supervisors weren?t efficient inon the job-training of the candidate teachers.- The ideas of the primary education supervisors didn?t change by sex,working duration, level of education, branch.- Related to the special education, the supervisors who took ?EducationalAdministration and supervision (2+2)? training found the training of the candidateteachers more successful than the supervisors who took in-service training.
