Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to determine skin findings of adolescents. A total of 200 adolescent patients whose ages varied between 9 and 17 and who applied to the Department of Dermatology, Medical Research of Hospital Dicle University, between October 2014- January 2015 were included in the study. The patients were examined prospectively and their ages, gender, telephone , complaints, history of previous diseases, fanily history, dermatological examination, body mass index, presence of pruritus, photosensitivity, menstruation disorder and hyperhidrosis were noted. The diseases were classified as papulosquamous and eczematous dermatoses, urticarias, erythemas and purpuras, vesiculobullous diseases, adnexal diseases, rheumatologic diseases, genodermatoses, pigmentary disorders, hair, nail and mucous membran diseases, skin infection and infestation, vascular disorders, atrophies and dermal connective disorders, keratosis pilaris, milium and pityriasis capitis simplex and hyperhidrosis. The Modified Ferriman Galwey classification system was used for evaluating and quantifying of hirsutism in women. A score of ≥8 score was evaluated to be positive for the diagnose of hirsutism. The data was evaluated with SPSS 18 and using x2 (Chi Square) statistic test. Of the 200 patients in the study, 119 (%59.5) were female and 81 (%40.5) were male. The rate of women to men was found 1.47:1. The age varied 9 and 17. The mean age of women was 12.6±2.25 and the mean age of men was 14.14±2.32. There were 103 (%51.5) patients between 9-13 ages and 97 (%48.5) patients between 14-17 ages. There was an additional disease in 198 (%99) patients. A family history was present in 193 (596.5) patients. One hundred one patient didn't use alchol and cigarettes while 9 patients smoked cigarette. There were 8 men an 1 woman of who smoked cigarette. In dermatological examination photosensitivity was determined in 17 (%8.5) patients, menstuation disorder in 11 patients (%13.5), pruritus in 32 patients (%16) and hyperhidrosis in 24 patients (%12). In 34 (%17) patients there was only one disease while there were at least 2 diseases in 166 (%83) patients. In this study the most common disease was acne vulgaris (%51). Following acne vulgaris nail disorders were seen at a rate of %38.5, papulosquamous diseases as %32.5, atrophies and dermal connective disorders as %21, skin infections and infestation as %20.5 , pruritus as %16, hair disorders as %15 ve pityriasis capitis simplex as %14.5. Milium was seen at a rate of %8.5, pigmentation disorders as %5.5, keratosis pilaris as %4.5 and oral mucous diseases as %2. The most common 8 disease's prevalance was assessed according to gender. There was no statistical significant difference between acne vulgaris, papulosquamous diseases, striae, skin infections and infestation, pityriasis capitis simplex and gender. A statistically significant difference was detected between nail disorders, pruritus, hair disorders and gender. The body mass index (BMI) score was determined between 11.35 and 31.20. The average of BMI of women was 19.055±3.58 and average BMI of men was 19.78±3.57. The mean BMI of patients with striae was 22.09 ±3.16, the mean BMI of patients without striae was 18.66±3.36. The average BMI of patients with striae was statistically higher than who din't have striae. The results of our study are consistent with those reported in previous studies. Puberty is the period between chilhood and adulthood. Morphological, psychological and sexual maturation occurs during puberty. We suppose that it is very important to know physiological and common changes of puberty for dermatologists. It will provide detailed information during dermatological examination.
