Comparison of the effect of sports and different sport branched on posture and equilibrium in adolescent group

Purpose: of this research was to compare the balance and posture performances between a group of athletes dealing with three different sports branches, and a control group with no sports at all. Materials and methods: Our study was conducted with a total of 87 male subjects studying at Manisa Fine Arts and Sports High School and who agreed to participate voluntarily. 40 of these subjects were control group with no sports, 20 are basketball group, 20 were soccer group and 7 were gymnastic group. The subjects selected for the study were selected from individuals who did not have neurological disease, vestibular-visual disturbance, severe lower extremity disability or drug use within the past year. Primarily subjects were measured for height and weight. Then balance analyzes were performed with a pedobarograph device (CTekscan HR Mat, Boston USA). A sway test with a double-legged eye, a double-legged eye and a single-legged eye were measured to subjects and transferred to the computer media. Findings: In the sway test performed the difference between the sports and control group were found significantly different for the sway test for double foot with the eyes open, for the difference on double foot with closed eyes and between frames on double foot in closed eyes, and difference between each frame on one foot (P<0.05). Results: The sport group was shown to play a positive role in the development of equilibrium. When it comes to sports branches, football training methods more effective in balance development compared to basketball and gymnastics. Key Words: equilibrium, postural control, sports
