This study is composed of an introductory part, three main chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter is devoted to the evaluation of the concept of culture and its relation to everyday social life. The second chapter focuses on the characteristics of the novel concerned and then on the content, structure, narrative type, plot and setting of the novel. And the third chapter deals with the intercultural problems faced by the figures and with the results out of them. The writer both positively and negatively reveals the relations and interaction between two people of different cultures. He not only reveals such intercultural problems but also puts the emphasis on the social problems faced by the figures in their own country. Moreover, he portrays the reflections of these problems within a foreign culture. It is finally concluded that the writer draws attention to the conflicts caused by the differences between the thinking way of the East and the West.
