The adoption of bio-innovation by start-ups toward sustainability

This thesis comprehensively explores bio-innovation within the start-up ecosystem toward more sustainable practices, integrating a qualitative thematic analysis alongside a quantitative survey employing a mixed research method. For this purpose, keywords such as bio-innovation, start-ups, and sustainability are used in the literature. This research question investigated is: What is preventing the adoption of bio-innovation by start-ups toward a more sustainable future? A hypothesis suggesting that awareness positively affects the adoption of bio-innovation in the start-up landscape was proposed and through data analysis, the hypothesis is accepted. The data indicates that awareness and knowledge do indeed have a positive impact on adoption in start-ups and that stakeholders or professionals involved in the scene should remain updated and well-rounded. Moreover, a consensus around awareness positively inducing venture capital investments and, hence, adoption is shown.
