Address information system design and application: Trabzon city case study

SUMMARY Address Information System Design and Application: Trabzon City Case Study Forming of the required criterias exactly and rapidly for appropriate and planned urbanization can be realized by using information system technologies. These systems are considered as effective tools in decision making and producing effective solutions by urban administrators. Information systems are used respect to necessities in different areas. One of these areas is Address Information System (AIS) in which following, querying and displaying of numerating processes are realized in urban information system applications. Meeting of demands to these systems optimumly is depend on eliminating of possible problems via pilot projects applications. So, firstly, in this application an AIS design and application realized for Trabzon City, selected as pilot area and then it is aimed that this design and application will be a model for Turkey. After determining of how a workflow is followed in AIS applications, constructing an infrastructre for distributing of urban data to people by web, devoloping an automation system for updating were aimed. At the end stage of the study, some sample applications were realized to show that WAP, GPS, GSM and network analysis applications run in this system. In this study, firstly, AIS requirements were examined and also an workflow shema was formed. Secondly AIS design was realized and this design was applied in Trabzon City. Acquired data from different resources, land studies and public or private institions of city is manipulated in Arc/Info and Arc View environment. As a result, an AIS design and application was realized to model AIS applications for Turkey.
