Occupational health and safety culture and attitude of AFAD employees

AFAD; The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency is a multi-faceted, multi-faceted organization that provides cooperation between all institutions and organizations of the country for the planning, direction, support, coordination and effective implementation of the necessary activities for the prevention of disasters and reducing their damage, responding to disasters and completing the post-disaster recovery works quickly. It is a multi-actor, business-oriented, flexible and dynamic institution, which oversees the rational use of resources in this Afad activities, natural disasters, fires, migrations, accidents, etc. In addition to being important in terms of intervening in incidents, it constitutes a high level of danger and risks. A Safety Culture is a set of social and technical practices, roles, attitudes, norms, and beliefs related to minimizing conditions associated with danger or harm to employees, managers, customers, and members of the public.2 The Safety Climate has been defined, according to Zohar, as "a summary of employees' shared holistic perceptions of the work environment"3. Occupational Health and Safety can be defined as "mandatory, technical and medical studies to prevent workers from being harmed physically and mentally due to all kinds of hazards that may occur both in the workplace and outside the workplace"4. Looking at the OHS Law No. 6331, Section 1, Scope and Exceptions, Article 2, item 2 (b) Response activities of disaster and emergency units.)5. appears to be out of scope. For this reason, it is thought that it is important to investigate and address the Occupational Health and Safety Culture within the institution by investigating what kind and what kind of measures Afad employees take regarding Occupational Health and Safety in all their studies, their awareness and perceptions about OHS.
