Abstract (EN)

The subject of the study is how/to what extent an individual's religious education background is useful in solving problems encountered during and after a disaster. The aim of the study is to determine the role of an individual's religious education background in coping with disasters. In this context, a scale measuring the usefulness of religious education in disasters has been developed. Using the focus group interview method, all stages of the study have been planned. Between March 19 and May 10, 2024, one year after the February 6, 2023 earthquakes, 319 responses were collected from individuals who had experienced the earthquakes using a structured questionnaire method, both face-to-face and online. After some evaluations, a total of 303 responses, 182 from women and 121 from men, were analyzed using the Jamovi program. The results of the study revealed that the level of utilization of religious education skills in coping with problems encountered during and after the disaster was higher among participants at the elementary and middle school levels. There is a linear relationship between the religious education skills possessed by participants and their behaviors in coping with disasters.
