Experiences of bayburt emergency health services workers in disaster response: The case of Kahramanmaraş earthquakes

Afetlerin, bireylerin ve topluluklara aitlik hissetme derecelerini etkileyerek sosyo-ekonomik ve toplumsal alanlara yayabilecekleri ve acil afet durumlarındaki ilk müdahalelere esas olabilecekleri bir gerçektir. Subsequent to the initial incident, a total of 112 personnel have been deployed to the forefront of operations in conjunction with numerous institutions and organizations, including AFAD, itfaiye, Kızılay, TSK, and emniyet. The objective of this study is to identify the challenges and deficiencies encountered by healthcare professionals in the context of major disasters, with the ultimate aim of addressing these issues. The objective is to determine the specific educational programs and supplementary equipment necessary to optimize the impact in the event of a disaster. The objective of the study was to enhance Turkey's emergency healthcare system and improve emergency preparedness plans, thereby establishing a foundation for future research. A multitude of studies have been conducted on the subject of intervention in disasters. However, there is a paucity of research addressing the challenges faced by 112 ASH personnel in the field during disaster interventions in Turkey. The findings derived from the interviews conducted with 112 active personnel, in conjunction with MAXQDA data analysis, are expected to play a pivotal role in addressing the challenges related to education and infrastructure in the context of disaster management.
