Abstract (EN)

The coronavirus epidemic and the earthquake caused difficulties. One of the professions that continue to work devotedly during disasters, even though they are themselves victims, is healthcare professionals(HP). Our study was conducted to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence(EQ) and burnout in HP. It was aimed to investigate whether working during disasters and/or serving patients affected by disasters or epidemics is related to EQ and burnout. The research was conducted with 413 HP via online survey. Statistical analysis of the data has been made. It was observed that EQ reduces emotional exhaustion, low sense of personal accomplishment, depersonalization and general burnout level in HP, while EQ varies according to gender, educational level, occupational groups, geographical variables, while burnout varies according to gender, age, educational level, occupational groups, geographical variables and study years. It has been concluded that working in disaster areas and serving patients affected by disasters has no effect on either variable.
