Political and social life of Afghanistan in the period of democratic republic 1978-1992

For centuries, human kind has had an effort of transferring the moral lessons to the next generations learned from significant events that has been experienced in the course of history. While these narrations had been produced mostly with oral and visual images till the invention of writing, special situations began to be recorded in the aftermath of the invention of writing. When the first historical data began to be revealed, important events in history were expressed with remarkable and striking definitions. In this context, similar definitions often used to characterize the Afghanistan War- which is considered one of the most important events of the 20th century political history- are seen. In this study, the political and social history of this special period of Afghanistan has been investigated. It is now almost accepted that history is not just a political history, and even political history is not just a history of the ruling elite. Certainly, rather than a uniform sense of history, a history understanding of differences, fluctuations, and even conflicts, and in this context, feeding from different disciplines will certainly make the works more colorful and vivid. In this study, it has been tried to find the answer to the question of what happened after the Savr coup which People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan come to power with, the Soviet intervention and what happened after. In this context, general evaluation of historical process of Afghanistan from monarchy to republic period, the spread of Marxist-Leninist thought and the influence of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, PDPA formation and development, Savr coup, Soviet military intervention was examined and its effects and results were analyzed.
