Today, the idea of how important the concept of culture is for the society has led folklore to the idea of identifying, protecting and transferring the national culture to the next generation by keeping it alive with globalization. In this context, the knowledge of all people, the compilation, research and promotion of their cultural products are of great importance. Tales, which are among the narrative genres among the knowledge and cultural products of the Uzbek people living in Afghanistan, are an important cultural creation by being very important in our cultural life. The aim of our study is to identify and record the tales that constitute an important part of the literature of the Uzbek Turks, thus preventing the disappearance of this oral tradition and contributing to both literature and culture. The study consists of introduction, three chapters and conclusion. In the introduction, firstly, the concept of fairy tale, the ideas about its definition, and information about the purpose, subject, importance and method of our study are included. In the first part, information about the history of Southern Turkestan, Turkish history in Afghanistan, Turkish tribes and the history and development of Turkish literature in Afghanistan was given and examined. In the second part, the definition and history of tales, the types of Uzbek tales, the tales of the Uzbek Turks living in Afghanistan, the title of the Uzbek storytelling tradition were researched and 50 fairy tale texts were translated and written in Turkey Turkish. In the third chapter, the motifs of the selected fifty tales of the Uzbek Turks living in Afghanistan were determined. The motifs of the Uzbek fairy tale were determined according to the motif catalog in Stith Thompson's "Motif Index of Folk Literature". The method we will follow in this study; The tales of the Uzbeks of Afghanistan in general, and especially of the Uzbek Turks living in the northern provinces of Jawzjan, Sarepul, Faryab, Balkh, Takhar and Kunduz, were transcribed by making field research and recording sound recordings. In addition, published fairy tale books were examined and a literature review was made. With this feature, the study has the feature of an introductory qualitative study. In the conclusion part of our study, a general evaluation was made about the tales of the Uzbek Turks living in Afghanistan and our findings on this subject were evaluated.
