Prof. Dr. Ahmet DAĞIn this MSc study, using the modern technical and economical data, theoptimum pit limits of Afşin-Elbistan (A) Kışlaköy open pit mine, which continues itsmining practices since 1981, is re-stated and the results obtained is compared withthe existing applicated pit limits.Using the data regarding 255 drilling core which is carried out by generalmanagement of MTA, a data file is formed containing hole coordinates, input andoutput height of coal, thermal value/ash content value, total depth of hole etc. Ablock model is obtained by assigning the data of blocks by kriging method withusing this data file. After this, density, stripping ratio, coal production costs, theproduction cost of each block and taking into account the financial value of theseblocks, an economical model of field is produced. Finally, possible ultimate slopes ofgeneral slope angles that are on different directions are iintroduced software andoptimum pit limit is obtained by moving cone method.Key Words : Ultimate pit limits, Moving cone, Afsin-Elbistan basin, Optimization,Opencast mineII
