Abstract (EN)

At the Çöllolar open pit area where two different landslides occurred in 2011, at the Kahramanmaras Afsin-Elbistan Coal Basin, life and property loss had been there and mining activities were stopped. In the investigations made after the landslides, it was stated that the black and green clay units that developed in parallel with the stratification within the coal vein were of great importance in terms of slope stability. In addition, as a result of the determination that the presence of groundwater in the site continues to pose a threat, studies on groundwater drainage in the site have been accelerated. The subject of this thesis is the geotechnical properties of very high plasticity, very weak strength black and green clay units and the relationship between the two units. In this study, soil mechanics tests were performed on samples taken by dirilling method in the operation area, index and engineering properties of soil samples and slope stability parameters of the units were determined. The relationship between green clay and black clay, which are in contact and of great importance in terms of slope stability, has been revealed in accordance with the data obtained for the two units.
