Abstract (EN)

The performance of the Afşin-Elbistan power station is not satisfactory. One of the reasons for the poor performance has to be seen in the insufficient limiting parameters for determining saleable lignite. In this study, the reasons of operating trouble in the power station produced by inadequate coal qualities have been investigated on the bases of the data supplied by administration of Afşin-Elbistan power station fcnd results of boiler tests. Impact strength and calorific value - ash content (dry bases) is very important as limiting parameters for determining the saleable coal specifications. In order to determine the impact strength of Afşin- Elbistan lignite a method named modified impact strength index (MISI) has been developed. The MISI of Afşin-Elbistan lignite vary between %9.8 and %56. The average and the variance of the MISI has to be %45 and ±%4 respectively. There is a need to blend lignite and the control the quality to be well, within the range modified in frame of this study. Seam is divided as upper seam, where the Gyttja Formation occurs as a sterile intercalation, and lower seam, where clay occurs instead of the Gyttja. Conditional simulation method is used to create two different seam models. Chevron stacking method is used to minimise the variances of quality parameters.
