Abstract (EN)

In this study, whether the students? prejudice for science lesson have any effects on teachingtraining in this course?s teaching or not; if yes, the factors that lead to the prejudice areinvestigated.In this work, the aim is to investigate qualitatively what kind of factors besides the factorssuch as; sex, coursebook, instead of school, family?s educational status, family?s economicalstatus, primary school curriculum; effect the prejudice against science lesson inAfyonkarahisar.In this study; which is a quantitative investigation; basic questionare questions are preparedafter having data from source search, pre-questionare for the students and the teachers,science education seminar, scanning conference hold by for seperate student, teacher groupsand literature search and observation.The findings have been reached by the participation of whole science teachers and some of4th and 5th class and approximately 1888 students 4-8 grades teachers working inAfyonkarahisar the 2004-2005 educational year. As a result of the application of thequestionare , the relation of 68 depended variables with independed variables such as sex,instead of school, class, monthly income, the graduation department, is investigated with thehelp of the SPSS statistics programme. The data is assessed using mean and standartiiideviation. According to the findings reached; in the constitution of the prejudices againstscience lesson, coursebooks, teachers? lack of knowledge and educative status, teachers?inequal attitudes against students, students? not knowing the practice area of the topics taughtand the upper class students? saying that science lesson is `hard? ; are effective. It appearedthat this prejudice lead to the decrease of self-confidence it students science lesson. However,it is obviously seen that this negative prejudice?s effects can be removed by the correction ofthe items above and effective guidence studies.2006, 155 pagesKeywords: Science, science education, prejudice.iv
