Province of Afyonkarahisar county of Sandıklı tradition of yâren

The culture of Yâren is one of the most important values of our civilization. Along with ancient Turkish customs; tradition of Yârenlik has been shaped by Islamic and sophistic morals. At the basis of Yârenlik, there are ahi community and Turkish-Islamic guild. Yârens of Sandıklı is one of the communities that have been founded on these values. This study handles Yârens of Sandıklı and their traditions in all their parts. In the first part, we have handled the shared value of Turkish World, the Yâren tradition completely. We have discussed companion councils which live under different and same names and are the wings of same culture and custom. We have discussed Yâren Culture being active in the whole Turk world, from Central Asia to the Balkans. In the second part, we have analyzed the sources that the Yârens of Sandıklı are fed culturally and traditionally. In that part we have also discussed Yaren nights and entertainments. In the third part, we have told about the nigths and entertainments of yâren. We have explained the rules and practices in the Sandıklı yâren program divided in to two main sections. In the fourth part, we have evaluated the positions of Yarenlik traditions. In conclusion part we have mentioned the importance of Yaren tradition and what should be done to keep the Yaren culture alive.
