Effect of the network based teaching towards the students? problem solving skills and the attitudes of science

The aim of this study is to search the effect of the network based teachingtowards the problem solving skills and the attitudes of science of the first class ofhigh school students.To make this study real, a web site aiming to gain the purpose and manners ofthe unit of ?cell division? whose cirriculum is of the biology lesson in the first classof high school was developed by the researcher. While developing the pages in thewebsite, the features taken into consideration are that to encourage the cooperation inthe nature of network based teaching, to reach the visual and audial registers, toprovide the interaction between student-student and student-teacher.The research was conducted as an experimental study suitable to the controlgrouped pretest-posttest modal. In the research, network based teaching is used in theexperimental group and traditional teaching methods are used in the control group.This study is done on 64 students (experimental=32, control=32) of a highschool in the centre of zmir during 2005-2006 acedamic year. In the research,?Problem Solving Inventory? developed by Şahin, Şahin and Heppner (1993),?Attitude Measure towards Science? developed by Baykul (1990) and ?PersonalInformation Form? are used as data collecting means. T test is used in analysis ofdata for determining the significance of the difference between the of the experimentand control groups.In the end of the research, network based teaching compared to traditionalteaching improves the students? problem solving skills significantly and affect theirattitudes towards science learning in a positive way.
