The art of ridicule is one of the modern arts that appeared to criticize some types of corruption in Arab societies, whether political or social, due to the conditions lived by the Arab world in general and Iraq in particular in recent times, such as occupations that caused political and social coups, and changes in thought and visions . These conditions and changes led to many political, social and cultural phenomena, which some of were good and some bad. What was bad, needed criticism and one of the methods of criticism that appeared in the literature is irony . This research examines the subject of satire in the very short stories of Ahmad Jarallah who is one of the Iraqi writers with exceptional literary production in the field of satirical very short stories. The main reason behind the spread the art of satire in the Arab world is the social and political problems and conflicts coupled with marginalization of the Arab self, and the corruption of the governing bodies in most Arab countries, which push the writer to the art of satire. The writer has taken it as a means of criticism and changing reality. Satire is one of the most important tools that reveal many defects and problems using artistic and rhetorical methods, in order to fix and treat those problems and defects. The writers of the very short story have used satire as a tool to treat and change their painful reality, and they often use it to confront these problems indirectly, in order to protect themselves from persecution, especially stories that criticize the ruling authority in a satirical way. Satire is also the best way for poets and writers to undermine their opponents and expose their faults. It is often used to relieve the stress of life and the satirist considers himself the spokesperson for society in his own way.
