Polysemy in Ahmedi Divan

Divan poetry has multiple intertwined layers of meaning created through literary arts. bay taking advantage of the polysemy of words in the background of their poems, poet create different layers of meaning and meaning patterns by using some words/phrases/pattern expressions in a way that suits more than one meaning through various literary arts such as tevriye/iham, iham-ı tenasüp, iham-ı tezat, kinaye. They created and added depth of meaning to their poems. by playing with different meanings of words, they enriched their poems in terms of meaning and made their couplets open to various interpretations. the various meanings of a word are reflected in poems by using it in relatoinship with other words and to indicate more than one meaning of the word. Thus, it has become a tradition in divan poetry for poets to include polysemous words in their poems. Like other divan poets Ahmedi, who is the subject of our study, made extensive use of polysemy in his Divan and enriched his poems interms of meaning. In this study, Ahmedi Divan was examined in terms of polysemy. With the help of polysemous words identified in the divan, the richness of meaning and mlti-layered meaning structure of divan poetry has been tried to be revealed. In this thesis, which aims to detect polysemy in the Ahmedi Divan, polysemy has beenexamined under different headings and the thesis has been carried out text-centered, based on examples. The numerical breakdown of the examples containing polysemous wors in the selected divan was given in tables and figures, and general situation was revealed statistically.
