Abstract (EN)
In this study, how to interpret the timber roof trusses in a modern manner is shown with the help of applied hanged timber roof examples from our country and the world by examining timber roof trusses and its kinds, timber scissors and its types, the importance of using wooden metarial are examined.Roofs are one of the most important elements of buildings in structural and aesthetical terms, thus if due concern to roofs is not shown, problems hard to conquer can occur in the application and usage phases. Usage of standing timber roofs is more widespread than timber hanging roofs in our country. The advantadges and disadvantadges of timber materials are told besides the properties of timber material to break these preconceptions. Timber roofs not being outdated, on the contrary being contemporary and efficient structures is deducted through the tables done by analysing the examples.Roofs are rich in point of variety. Roofs are classified according to their geometric forms, slope angles material of structural elements, quantity of layers, location of heat insulation layers, type of taking rainwater away and load bearing type. Roofs are shared in five groups according to the materials of structural elements. These are; timber, metal, stonework and other roofs. Also roofs are grouped in three according to the load bearing type. These are; standing roofs, trussed roofs and mixed roofs. Timber roof trusses are classified in three groups according to their surface form as; surfaced, coped and hipped timber roof truss. Also timber roof trusses are grouped in three according to quantity of used kingposts as; one kingposted, two kingposted and three kingposted timber roof trusses.Keywords : Timber, roof design, timber roof trusses and its types, usage of material, geometry of trusses.
