Wood is a building material that has been widely used since ancient times. It is a natural and economical building material that is used in architecture. It is also.compatible with nature, recyclable, and does not cause environmental pollution. It is a sustainable material in terms of environment and human health. First of all the thesis work; The purpose, scope and method of use are discussed. The first part; definition, history and properties of wood are introduced. In the second part; The usage areas of wood as a building material, wooden carrier elements, floors, ceiling, joinery elements, stairs, walls, roof, skeleton system were examined and the usage areas of each was explained.. Spanning all building elements is enriched with visuals. The third part; The history, geographical location, population characteristics, social, cultural and historical characteristics of Şile and Kabakoz District were investigated. Selected sample buildings in Kabakoz Neighborhood were photographed and the current situation of the building elements was evaluated. In the conclusion part of the study; The results of the thesis were emphasized and a general evaluation was made about the thesis study.
