Wood constructions, the condition of wood construction industries in Turkey, problems and solution suggestions

In this study, criteria as to practice of wood construction in our country and the analysis of the wood construction sector have been estimated, and efforts to keep up with advancing technology and the investment conditions of the sector have been examined, and after evaluating the problems of the sector, some solution suggestions have been put forward. Wood construction sector is defined with customs reference number 94 06.00.10.00.00 in trade classification. There are 59 private and one state company acting in this sector. Rate of capacity usage is rather law. While no deficiencies as to production technolgy have been observed, some deficiencies as to keeping up to standards have been estimated. Production volume has been established to be various, and when compared to common building construction cost, recent wood construction production cost has been found to be comperatively low. Foreign trade balance has displayed a stable negative value. Although specialization coefficient is high and the ratio of import with regard to meeting domestic need is at an ignorable level. The problems of the sector can be attributed to long production time and lack of demand. There seems to be no major problem as to this sector. It can be said that.with the present production capacity and technology, future expectation of the sector is on a continuous increase.
