Abstract (EN)

Ecotourism is a conscious and sustainable type of tourism that can be done in all seasons. It aims to protect natural and cultural resources, improve the living conditions of local people, and consider the welfare of the community by benefiting from various activities. In recent years, the expectations of people participating in tourism are changing. People are moving away from the usual and crowded tourism centers and turning to alternative types of tourism. Studies have shown that outdoor recreational activities are preferred because they provide cognitive, physical, and emotional benefits to individuals. Moreover, these activities do not require significant economic investment and offer a wide range of entertainment options that appeal to individual preferences. This study examines ecotourism activities in rural and natural regions of Turkey, with a particular emphasis on the participation of families and children. An inventory of sample organizations and camping areas was created, and the opportunities and possibilities offered by these organizations were evaluated. Within the scope of the study, a total of 10 organizations and camps offering ecotourism activities focused on family and child participation in Turkey were evaluated. The study looked into the activities provided by these organizations and camps, the environmental and nature awareness they promote among families and children, their mental, social, and physical effects on individuals, and an evaluation of the activities from environmental and social perspectives. The study utilized the oral interview method, which is commonly used in qualitative research. The results of the research include data obtained through descriptive analysis, which were evaluated from social and environmental perspectives in the analysis section of the study. Based on these evaluations, recommendations and strategies were developed. The study is significant in contributing to the development of nature and environmental awareness, emphasizing the importance of environmental education, and aiming to protect historical and cultural identity from negative effects. It is also recommended to develop ecotourism efforts focused on attracting families and children, with a special emphasis on increasing both the quality and number of these activities. Appropriate strategies should be implemented to promote and market these activities and disseminate information about them.
