Abstract (EN)

The Patient Management Platform was integrated into the Family Medicine system by the Ministry of Health in 2021. The Patient Management Platform includes sections for obesity screening and monitoring, diabetes mellitus screening and monitoring, hypertension screening and monitoring, cardiovascular disease risk monitoring and screening, and elderly health monitoring. The aim of these screenings and monitoring activities is to strengthen the preventive health services provided by family physicians. Sleep quality assessment has been the subject of numerous studies, examining its relationship with diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and sleep quality in the elderly. However, sleep research in patients screened and monitored using the Patient Management Platform system is currently lacking. The aim of this study is to evaluate sleep quality in patients monitored and screened using the Patient Management Platform system. Our study included 320 patients who applied to the No. 1 Family Medicine Polyclinic in Mudurnu district of Bolu province. Participants were interviewed face-to-face, a questionnaire regarding their sociodemographic characteristics was administered, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index was used, and blood pressure and pulse measurements, height and weight measurements, and blood tests were taken between January 2023 and December 2024 for the Disease Management Platform system, and the data was entered into the system. A Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score below 5 was classified as good sleep quality, between 5 and 10 as moderate sleep quality, and 11 and above as poor sleep quality. Our study included 320 patients from the No. 1 Family Medicine Polyclinic in Mudurnu district of Bolu province. Participants were interviewed face-to-face, a questionnaire on sociodemographic characteristics was administered, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index was applied, and data was entered into the Disease Management Platform system between January 2023 and December 2024, including pulse rate, height and weight, and blood test results. A Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score below 5 was classified as good, between 5 and 10 as moderate, and 11 and above as poor sleep quality. Individuals undergoing hypertension monitoring, cardiovascular risk monitoring, and geriatric health monitoring showed a statistically significant decrease in sleep quality. Similarly, a significant decrease in sleep quality was observed as the number of additional illnesses and medications used increased. Family physicians play a crucial role in preventive healthcare, and sleep quality is not questioned within the implemented Patient Management Platform system. However, physicians increasing their awareness of sleep issues and educating their patients on this topic can be protective against potential systemic diseases.
