Abstract (EN)

Objective: This study aimed to examine the gender role attitudes of parents with children aged 0–6 years who applied to the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Hospital (ZBEÜH) and the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic of the Obesity and Diabetes Center (OBDİM), using the Gender Role Attitudes of Parents with Children Aged 0–6 Years Scale (TCRTÖ), and to investigate the relationship of these attitudes with sociodemographic variables. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted with 203 parents, all of whom had children aged 0–6 years, who applied to the ZBEÜH Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic between May 23, 2025, and August 15, 2025. Data were collected through a sociodemographic data form and the Gender Role Attitudes of Parents with Children Aged 0–6 Years Scale. Results: A total of 103 (50.7%) women and 100 (49.3%) men participated in the study. Women, individuals whose spouses were employed, and those whose expenses exceeded their income demonstrated more egalitarian attitudes. Individuals with higher income than expenses reported greater satisfaction with the sharing of parental roles. No significant relationship was found between gender role attitudes and participants' education level, employment status, way of meeting the spouse, place of residence, parental education level, number of children, or whether pregnancies were planned. Traditional attitudes were found to increase with age and duration of marriage. Conclusion: It was concluded that gender role attitudes are influenced by multiple factors such as age, duration of marriage, income status, and gender, and that they do not have a unidimensional structure.
