Posi̇ti̇oni̇ng of women i̇n fami̇ly busi̇nesses: The case of Gazi̇antep

In every period of history, women have been assigned with jobs that ensure the continuation and reproduction of the household in the private patriarchy. It has also been used as a labor force in the public sphere, when men are lagging behind for various reasons. In this study, home and work life of women working in family business both formally and informally is tried to be interpreted with the feminist epistemology. In this context, in-depth interviews were conducted with 21 women working with a male member of the family and the data obtained from these interviews were criticized within the framework of patriarchal ideology within the context of domestic labor, household reproduction, labor invisibility, informal employment, public sphere, private patriarchy and violence. This labor and body exploitation is tried to be viewed with the Marxist, Socialist and Radical Feminist perspectives which brought by the Wave 2 feminist movement and the importance of feminism in women's empowerment is mentioned.
