Abstract (EN)

The primary purpose of this study is to determine the role of job stress in the relationship between the level of institutionalization of family businesses and the level of commitment of employees. The secondary purpose is to reveal the diversification of this relationship in terms of demographic variables. The study comprises 4 parts in total of which three are theory and one is research-based. In the first 3 chapters; The concepts of institutionalization, the institutionalization of family businesses, organizational commitment, and work stress are examined theoretically. In the research part, the Role of Job Stress in the Relationship between Institutionalization Level of Family Businesses and Employee's Commitment Levels was analyzed. The research domain covers family businesses registered to chambers of commerce in the cities of Ankara and Baku. The sample group of the research was determined as a total of 100 restaurants, 50 restaurants in each for the cities of Ankara and Baku, and a total of 1100 participants, with 10 employees and one manager in each restaurant. The sample group was selected using the convenience sampling method. Questionnaires were used as data collection tools. For the evaluation of questionnaires related to the institutionalization (aimed for managers), work stress, and organizational commitment (aimed for employees) the Koç, H. and Aylan, S. (2017) scale, Aktaş, AM (2001) job stress determination scale, and Mowdaw, Steers, and Porter's (1979) organizational commitment scale was used respectively. The data obtained from questionnaire was analysed using the statistical package program. In the study, the structural validity of the scales was made with confirmatory factor analysis, the test of the research hypotheses was performed with the hierarchical regression model, and the analysis of the questionnaire data was performed by Pearson correlation analysis, student t-test, ANOVA test, and explanatory statistics methods. As a result of the analyses, the hypothesis of job stress having an important mediating role in the relationship between the institutionalization level of family businesses and the loyalty levels of employees was accepted for Turkish enterprises and rejected for Azerbaijan enterprises.
