Opinions of parents and student on parents supported dialogic reading activities

The aim of this research is to ensure the active participation of the family in student reading activities and to get the opinions of the parents and students regarding the dialogic reading activities. Accordingly, data was obtained by interviewing parents and focus group interview with students. Case study model, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The study group of the study consisted of 3rd grade primary school students and their parents in a private school in the Central District of Çankırı. While creating the sample of the research, it was decided according to the easily accessible sampling method. While collecting the research data, parent interview form and student focus group interview were conducted. In the analysis of the data, the opinions of the parents from the interview forms were coded, and the focus group interview records were analyzed by transcribing them. As a result of the analysis of the research data, the families stated that they have information about the dialogic reading activities, they are extremely interested in the activity, why it has not been done before and that such activities should be done again and that it has a positive effect on the desire to read the student. As a result of the focus group discussions, the students United in the opinion that this activity should continue with the families at home and that they are very happy to be with the families in the classroom. It was observed that these findings had a positive effect on student reading, there was an increase in student motivation since the learner and parent were in the same environment, and there was a positive increase in students ability to listen and summarize after the activity.
