Factors affecting motivation of health personnel working in family health centers

Özet (EN)

Aim: In our study, it was aimed to examine the motivation level and the factors that affect the motivation of the health personnel working in the Family Health Centers. Method: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 568 health personnel working in İzmir has been included. Research questionnaire consists of questions investigating health workers' sociodemographic characterstics, the factors affecting the motivation and the motivation level of the participants. SPSS 22 was used in analysis, p<0,05 considered statistically significant. Results: All participants mean age was 42.98±8.93. Majority of the participants 67% (n=382) were female. Of the participants 51.7% (n=294) were physicians, 22.4% (n=127) were midwives, 21.1% (n=120) were nurses, 2.1% (n=12) were emergency medical technicians and and 2.6% (n=15) were the other. The most significant motivation instrument for health workers was salary. It was observed that the least significant motivation instrument for health workers was rotation at work. The motivational score of health workers was 66.71 ± 19.59. In comparison to physicians, the other health workers more motivated. Conclusion: As a result, it is found that the most important factor that affects the motivation of health workers was salary. The findings suggests that special attention should be paid to a personal safety in the workplace. It is suggested that using the instruments like good salary and personal safety in the workplace, may increase working motivation of health workers.
