Investigation on the relationship between institutional level of family companies and the use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software: An application in the Rize region

Family companies constitute a significant part of the country's economy. Family companies aiming to maintain their assets in the face of increasing global competition aim to carry out institutionalization activities by changing management structures and to obtain market advantage in corporate image and sector. Family companies can use different methods in institutionalization studies. One of these methods is to implement Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems within the company. ERP systems are software packages in structure. These software packages contain all the things that family businesses need to carry out their activities. The data held in the common databases constitute the reports with accurate and reliable information with the functional structure of the ERP system. Corporate managers can make more accurate strategic decisions in the direction of these reports, which play an important role in ensuring the responsibility, transparency and accountability that is essential for institutionalization. In this study, the relationship between the level of institutionalization of family companies operating in the Rize region and the use of ERP software was investigated. As a result of the research, the relationship between the level of institutionalization and the use of ERP software has been determined. It has been revealed that family companies can continue their institutionalization activities more effectively with the use of ERP software and thus gain advantage in market competition.
