Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, TiC coating was applied to AISI 1045 (C45) fabrication steel by using Thermoreactive Diffusion (TRD) coating method. The coating process was carried out at temperatures of 1000, 1050 and 1100 oC, with holding times of 1, 2 and 3 hours. The materials to be coated are primarily prepared in the desired dimensions and their surfaces are polished. Afterwards, the coating process was applied in the determined parameters. All surfaces of the coated materials were sanded and the samples were mounted. Polishing and etching processes were applied to the samples taken from the bakelite, and they were made ready for the tests. Samples prepared for analysis were subjected to light microscopy, SEM, XRD and hardness analyzes. In the morphology examinations, the coating thickness was determined in the range of 6-21 microns and it was determined that the resulting coating showed homogeneity. In the XRD analysis performed from the surface area where the coating is located, Ti-sourced phases were observed. In the Vickers hardness analysis, while the hardness of the base material was around 230 HV, the highest hardness after coating increased to 2300 HV. As a result of the analyzes and evaluations, the most suitable TiC coating parameter was determined for AISI 1045 (C45) manufacturing steel coated with TRD technique.
